- What does this app do?
- The Yoakum ISD app is a quick way to access content such as cafeteria menus, district and campus news, school supply lists and information about upcoming events.
- If you have provided an email address, you can log in to chat with teachers and other staff members.
- Is there a charge to use the app?
- No, the app is free to download and use.
- Do I need to set up an account?
- No. In order to maintain confidentiality, YISD will set up the parent accounts using the email address provided by the parent/guardian.
- It takes a few days to establish your account once you provide your email address.
- Can I still use the app if I'm not the parent/guardian of a student?
- Yes. You will not be able to chat in the app, but all other features will be available.
- What about Band and Remind?
- The app replaces Band and Remind.
- Why are we changing to a new app?
- The new app is much more secure. Unlike other platforms, our new app has controlled access. The only people who can access the chats are our staff members, our parents/guardians and students in grades 6-12. No one can create an account on their own. Parents and students (grades 6-12 only) can send direct messages to teachers so no one else sees the information. Replies can be private.
- I don't want to install an app. Is there any other way to access the chat?
- How can I see information about grades, assignments and attendance?
- This information is still in the Parent Portal. It will not be available in the new app.
- Can students use the app?
- Students in grades 6 - 12 will be able to use the app. They will only be able to communicate with staff members, not each other or the parents.
- I logged in but I'm seeing the classes from last year.
- Last year's classes will appear until the district rolls over into the new school year. This will happen after registration each year. Grade levels will also update.
