Welcome to YHS - Home of the Fighting Bulldogs!
In 1937, Yoakum High School was built on property just outside the city limits. It was the first building to house grades 9–12, and included an auditorium which is still used today. Other buildings have been added throughout the years and surroundings have changed, but a strong tradition remains. Yoakum High School strives for excellence, and students live up to the high expectations in both academics and athletics.

All students enrolled in Yoakum High School must report for in-person instruction. In accordance with TEA guidelines, parents have the option to request a transfer to any school district to meet their children’s educational needs for remote instruction. Parents also have the option to withdraw their children and enroll them in a private school or homeschool. Yoakum ISD feels confident that the District’s plan to PREVENT the virus from entering the school, RESPOND to lab-confirmed cases, and MITIGATE the likelihood of COVID-19 spread inside the school is sound. We will offer instructional support for students experiencing COVID related illnesses just as we would for any other illness. We thank you for working with our district through this very strange time. If you have any questions, please contact our campus principal at 361-293-3442.
Visit our district homepage at https://www.yoakumisd.net/default.aspx?PageID=1 for updated information regarding COVID-19.
