Yoakum ISD G/T Coordinator Responsibilities

  • August
    • Provide G/T program overview with framework and expectations outlined and documentation of differentiation mandated by the district to new personnel
    • Distribute G/T student lists to appropriate teachers and principal
    • Verify G/T services happen the first week of school
    • Assure current G/T teaching faculty have obtained a 6-hour G/T credit professional development update
  • September
    • Review Assessment calendar
    • Order tests if necessary
    • Have forms ready to go out to parents, newspapers and campuses
    • Confirm District G/T committee from your campus and their eligibility of members
    • Set up  and hold parent G/T orientation/ meeting
  • October
    • Attend fall G/T Coordinator meeting at Region 3 in September.
    • Assessment window opens 1st week of October for 2 weeks.
    • Ensure forms are disseminated and web and newspapers have the announcements
    • 3rd week of October Collect all nomination letters and permission to test documents.
    • Create files for each nominated child.
  • November
    • Assessment begins
    • G/T Coordinator administers the assessments
  • December
    • Meet with District G/T Selection/Placement committee
    • Ensure minutes are kept of meetings
    • Second week of December letter go out to parents
    • A copy of Permission to Serve letters sent to PEIMS clerk.
    • Original Letter and G/T Assessment profile put in Permanent folders
    • Copies of above put in G/T folder
    • Copy of service not appropriate at this time letters put in G/T file, original in permanent folders
  • January
    • Check to be sure all letters have been collected
    • Follow up as needed
    • Send updated G/T List to counselors to disseminate to principals and teachers.
  • February
    • Set up and hold parent G/T meeting
    • Review staff G/T training documentation to ensure compliance
  • March
  • April
    • Insure current G/T teaching faculty have obtained a 6-hour G/T credit professional development update
  • May
    • Set up and hold parent G/T meeting
    • Collect documentation for Annual G/T Program Review
    • Collect campus Documentation of G/T Services forms for year
