School Board Recognition January 2026
Yoakum ISD Celebrates School Board Recognition Month
January is School Board Recognition Month and Yoakum I.S.D. is joining other districts across the state to thank these volunteers for their commitment and contributions to our public schools and community.
The theme of this year’s School Board Recognition Month is “Our Future is Public”, which highlights school trustees’ role in shaping the future of our great state of Texas.
School board members volunteer countless hours striving to ensure every child has the finest possible public education. Our world is evolving so quickly that new challenges are always emerging. Board members develop policies and make tough decisions on complex educational and social issues that impact entire communities as well as individual students.
These dedicated individuals deserve recognition and thanks for investing in the future workforce, our community, and Texas economy. Equipping the students of today to become effective citizens and future leaders is a significant responsibility. As representatives elected by the public, school board members act as the voice of their communities, prioritizing the welfare of our schoolchildren above all else.
The men and women serving Yoakum Independent School District Board of Trustees are: Glen Kusak, President; Terry Boening, Vice-President; Darlene Renken, Secretary; Amanda Fling, Assistant Secretary; Rodney Svec, Trustee; Gary Colman, Trustee; and Donnetta Sherrer, Trustee.
We kindly ask you to take a moment to express your gratitude to these school board members for their generous hearts, optimistic outlooks, and commitment to making a positive impact, enabling our children to achieve success.
