January is School Board Recognition Month and Yoakum I.S.D. is joining other districts across the state to thank these volunteers for their commitment and contributions to our public schools and community.

Over the weekend, there will be changes to accessing ASCENDER’s login page. All Ascender pages will be unavailable starting at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5th.
This will affect the following:
- ASCENDER Parent Portal
- ASCENDER Student Portal
- ASCENDER Teacher Portal – Staff must not access over the weekend
- ASCENDER – Staff must not access over the weekend
New links will be available on Yoakum ISD website homepage on Monday, December 8, 2025.

In the August 18, 2025 meeting, the Yoakum ISD Board of Trustees approved an order calling a Voter Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) for Tuesday, November 4, 2025. The VATRE will ask voters to consider a three-cent increase to the district’s tax rate. If approved by voters, the VATRE would generate an estimated $900,000 dollars in annual funding for Yoakum ISD, with approximately $400,000 of that amount coming from the state. The money generated through the VATRE will be utilized by Yoakum ISD to increase staff compensation.

Screening will be held at Yoakum Primary Annex.
Residents of Yoakum and Sweet Home are eligible.
