Stop the Bleed
Student Training Opportunity & Parent Permission Form
Students in grades 7–12 have the opportunity to participate in an optional health and safety training program called Stop the Bleed.
What is Stop the Bleed?
Texas House Bill 496, Section 38.030, requires school districts to implement a Traumatic Injury Response Protocol for situations involving traumatic injuries and significant blood loss. The legislation requires bleeding-control kits to be available in easily accessible locations throughout the district and requires designated employees to receive training.
The law also encourages districts to offer optional bleeding-control training to students in grades 7–12. This training helps students develop the knowledge and skills needed to take an active role in responding to serious bleeding emergencies.
