Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT)
We understand the challenging circumstances you are experiencing and wanted you to know your household may be eligible to receive Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) benefits to buy food from any retailer that accepts the Texas Lone Star Card. P-EBT is a one-time benefit of up to $285 and will be issued on an EBT card to assist families during this unanticipated school closure.
Children up to 21 years old who are certified for free or reduced-price meals at school in Texas during the 2019-20 school year and all children who attend a school that offers free meals to all students (Community Eligibility Provision or Provision 2) are eligible to receive P-EBT benefits.
Families who received SNAP benefits for the month of March 2020 and have children 5-18 years old as of May 17, 2020, do not need to apply for those children. These families will receive P-EBT benefits on their current Lone Star Card by May 22. No further action is required of you.
Families with children up to 21 years old who are certified to receive free or reduced-price meals during the 2019-20 school year need to apply for P-EBT. (This includes families who received SNAP benefits for the month of March 2020 and have children under 5 and between 19 and 21.) These families will need to apply for P-EBT benefits online. Eligible families will receive a school letter with a link to the P-EBT application the first week of June. You will have until June 30, 2020 to complete the application. Once approved, a P-EBT card will be mailed to your household.
You will have one year, from the date the benefits were issued, to use your P-EBT food benefits. P-EBT benefits are non-transferable.
We trust this benefit will prove helpful. For more information, please visit hhs.texas.gov/PEBT.

Thank you for your continued support and patience. We miss you all. Be safe and take care.
Coronavirus Precautions - March 3, 2020
Yoakum ISD has been closely following the media reports and information shared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about the Coronavirus (COVID-19). While no cases have been suspected among our local community, please be assured that we are monitoring the situation and will provide information as it becomes available from the public health authorities. Public health officials believe the risk to our school community is low at this time.
Any decisions that may need to be made regarding a change to school operations will be done so with guidance from the CDC and local health officials, along with guidance and direction from the authorities at TEA and Region 3.
Much is being learned about this newly emerged virus. The 2019 novel coronavirus is believed to be spread through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes, much in the way the flu and other respiratory viruses are spread. Symptoms can be fever, cough, or difficulty breathing. Based on the current information, health officials are recommending local communities and schools should take the same steps to protect against coronavirus as we take to prevent the spread of everyday illnesses like the common cold or the flu:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when sick.
- Cover the mouth and nose with the inside of the elbow when coughing or sneezing.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
While a new type of illness can be scary, we can protect our students, teachers, and the broader community by using simple everyday actions that protect people from other types of respiratory viruses. This is important not just to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, but to help prevent the spread of other infections that can lead to student illness and absences.
Thank you for your support of our district, our schools, our students, and our teachers and staff. Updated information from the CDC on coronavirus can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html. Raptor Visitor Management System
Yoakum ISD is pleased to announce that we are using the Raptor Visitor Management System in all of our schools to strengthen our program of campus safety for students and faculty. Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and the Raptor system allows us to do that. The Raptor system allows us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff.
Upon entering a district building, visitors will be asked to present an ID such as a Driver’s License, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the system. If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name into the Raptor system. The Raptor system will check to ensure that registered sexual offenders are not entering our school campuses without our knowledge. The Raptor system checks the visitor's name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. The registered sex offender database is the only official database checked by the Raptor system. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded and the information is not shared with any outside agency. Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit. A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork.
The safety of our students is our highest priority and the Raptor visitor management system allows us to quickly identify those that may present a danger to our students. Thank you in advance for your understanding and your support in enhancing the school safety protocols in our district.

The pictures are being digitally uploaded and eventually will be viewed on the screen in the new Bulldog Gym foyer.

No particular pose is necessary; typically, the athlete is pictured in their college uniform and any listings of their accomplishments included.
Pictures and information can be turned in to the Yoakum ISD Administration Office at 315 East Gonzales Street.
Please note: Pictures will not be returned.
