Art 1 |
Welcome to Art 1!!!
This year will be an
exciting
year as you begin to explore
different areas that are fundamental in order to obtain a basic
understanding of the fine arts. As we explore different mediums and
techniques this year, you will begin to find not only the ones that you
will most enjoy or be skilled at, but also begin to see these projects
as problem solving challenges that can be met through your own personal
choices and decisions. These challenges will give you opportunities to
practice and strengthen your decision making skills and help make your
own personal decisions in the future. For those of you interested in
continuing art throughout high school, this course will help you
discover the art techniques which fit you best. |

Materials/ Supplies
Students are required to
bring a pencil, eraser and
sketchbook to class every day. Students may choose to bring plastic
page protectors to protect their artwork. Pencils and erasers are
available for borrowing. Borrowing, however, requires collateral, which
can include an id, keys, or anything else a student wants returned at
the end of class. Occasionally students may be asked to bring something
special from home.

Attendance/ Tardies
The rules established by
the administration will be followed.
If a student is present when a test/project due date is announced, then
the student will be expected to take the test/turn in the project as
soon as he returns. It is the student's responsibility to secure any
make-up work.

Late Work
All projects are due by the due
date, no exceptions. Should a
grade be at a level the student, parent, and/or instructor is not
satisfied with, there is an option to improve or redo work and have it
re-graded. The requirements for this are:
- Completed work was turned in on time
- Work re-submitted must be accompanied by the original grade
sheet
- Work re-submitted must be completed and turned in before
the end of the six week period the project was assigned
