OUTSTANDING CITIZEN AWARD

Procedure for selecting the Outstanding Citizen Award:

Either male or female student in the current high school graduating class selected by the total high school faculty in May for presentation during the Awards Assembly.

Criteria for Outstanding Citizen Award


  • Final accumulative grade average and class ranking in upper one-fourth of class, with positive goals for pursuing further education at the college level to develop the recognized leadership capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership in classroom and extra-curricular activities, including community service, with character and principles that inspire others.


 The ROBERT B. WINCHESTER OUTSTANDING CITIZEN AWARD FUND has been established at the Yoakum National Bank, effective April, 1980.  The annual interest will be the financial part of the award and will be paid on the existing principle.  The interest withdrawal and presentation to the student during or immediately following the Awards Assembly will be handled by the High School Counselor.

This fund was started by and will be increased by contributions in honor of Robert G. Winchester, whose principles, character, scholarship and citizenship were an inspiration to his students.
