Shane Nelson, a 1995
graduate
of Yoakum High School, was a senior at Southwest Texas State University
(now
known as Texas State University) when he died of leukemia. This
scholarship
is available to a Yoakum High School student who plans to attend Texas
State
University.

Guidelines are as
follows:
|
|
1. The
recipient
of this scholarship must have plans to enroll as a full-time student at
Texas
State University in San Marcos, Texas.
|
|
2.
Students
must have a four year average of 80 or better.
|
|
3. Seniors
wishing
to apply for this scholarship will fill out a scholarship application
and
submit it to the High School Counselor. Deadlines for application
will
be set by the Counselor.
|
|
4. The
scholarship
committee will review the applications and make their choice for the
award
which will be presented at the Yoakum High School Awards Ceremony.
|
|
5. The
scholarship
will be made payable to the registrar upon registration. If the
scholarship
is not used within the allotted time, it is awarded to the alternate
choice
of the scholarship committee.
