Education
beyond high school should be an
attainable
goal to every student who actively desires it and is academically
qualified.
For many years, financing a college education was a major deterrent
facing
many students. This fact should no longer be true. In spite
of
budget cuts, federal and state funds are still pouring into
education.
These monies, along with financial aid provided by colleges and
universities,
should open the doors to the dreams and aspirations of a college or
trade
school education. To help Yoakum High School seniors financially
their
first year in school, various Yoakum clubs and organizations make
available
scholarships to those seniors who plan to pursue higher education at
either
a college, trade school, or business school after graduation.
To apply for one of these scholarships, a senior must meet the criteria
set
forth by the organization and fill out a scholarship application.
Applications
are available in the counselor's office. Some organizations wish
to
interview the applicants while others select their recipient on the
basis
of application only. Seniors will be notified by the
school
counselor as to time and place of the interview if they are selected by
that
organization to be interviewed. |
