These courses introduce you to Agricultural Science and Technology.  The courses include agricultural career development, leadership, communications, personal finance as well as information concerning soils, plants, animals, agricultural construction, and supervised occupational experience programs.


0710    Intro to World Agriculture Science

Grades 9-12

 Prerequisite:    None
Intro to World Agriculture Science/Technology (1st semester) is designed to introduce beginning students to global agriculture.  The course includes agricultural career development, leadership, communications, personal finance, and mechanized agriculture.
Applied Agricultural Science/Technology (2nd semester) is designed to enhance the agricultural comprehension in agricultural science.  The course includes soils, plants, animals, agricultural construction, food science, supervised agricultural experience programs, and leadership.


0715 Introduction to Agricultural Mechanics
0716 Ag Metal Fabrication

Prerequisite:    Ag Mech required for AgMetal
Introduction to Agricultural Mechanics (1st semester) is designed to familiarize the student with basic theory and specialized skills of agricultural mechanics.  Skills will be developed in the areas of tool identification and safe use, carpentry, electricity, plumbing, masonry, fence building, painting, metal working, and welding processes.
Agricultural Metal Fabrication Technology (2nd semester) is a shop/laboratory-oriented course that includes the essential elements and the concepts and skills related to agricultural metal fabrication technology.  Basic welding, sheet metal, and manufacturing techniques are studied.

Prerequisite:    None
Wildlife and Recreation Management (1st semester) is designed to examine the importance of wildlife and outdoor recreation with emphasis on using wildlife and natural resources.
Equine Science (2nd semester) is a course designed to develop knowledge and skills pertaining to the selection, nutrition, reproduction, health, and management of horses.

0721 Floral Design and Interior Landscape Development
Grades 11-12

Prerequisite:        None
Intro to Horticulture Science (1st semester) is a classroom/lab oriented course designed to prepare students to learn skills related to greenhouse, nursery crop production, landscaping, floral design, and fruit and nut production.
Floral Design and Interior Landscape Development (2nd semester) is an activity-based course which prepares the student to develop competencies in live flower classification and identification, geometric and specialized floral designs, tropical plans, and interior landscaping.

Prerequisite:    None
Plant and Animal Production (1st semester) is a cluster course that includes principles of animal and plant production as it relates to farming and ranching.  The course teaches students the importance of fundamentals of soil use and land management.
Animal Science (2nd semester) is designed to develop knowledge and skills pertaining to the study of nutrition, reproduction, health, and management of domestic animals. This course is designed to examine the interrelatedness of human, scientific, and technological dimensions of crop production using the resources of land, soil, water, energy, and living organisms.  Instruction is designed to expand one’s knowledge of the scientific and technological dimensions of resources necessary for crop production.
