Team Guidelines

bulldog

  1. Simply keep in mind that you represent the athletic department, our high school, and specifically our volleyball team in everything that you do. Many people are constantly looking at you so give then a pleasant view.

  2. A loud and offensive attitude is just that, offensive, to me and everyone around you. When someone does not do just what you think they should it is an opportunity to do two things:1.) develop self control and 2.) win a friend.

  3. Punctuality in all endeavors is a must. Plan to be at all functions a minimum of ten minutes ahead of schedule. Being late will cost you heavily and could do injury to our team.

    1. Excuses (reasons) after the fact will not be heard. If it is necessary to be late the coaching staff is to be notified ahead of time by yourself, not a teammate or another friend.

    2. If you are going to miss a function (practice, meeting, etc.) the same applies. The Head Coach must be notified ahead of time by YOU, not someone else.

      1. Any player who misses a practice must make up that practice prior to the next match.

      2. Any player who abuses an excuse for a function is subject to probation and/or dismissal from the Volleyball Program.

      3. As an athlete you need to be in class every day, every class period. If you are going to miss a class the coach must be notified and given the reason for missing.

  4. Recommendations on the use of Alcohol and Tobacco.

    1. Abstain from the use of alcoholic beverages and tobacco. All are harmful to your body from a health stand point as well as impairing your athletic performance. Infrequent use can lead to habitual use which means long range personal problems for yourself and loved ones.

    2. Any player who brings embarrassment or discredits her school and/or team through the use of the above substances is subject to probation or dismissal from the Volleyball Program. This is your decision if you want to remain in the program.

  5. Complaining is an absolute waste of human brain power and breath. The English language has acceptable ways to express every human thought and emotion. Always complaining indicates a disrespect for those around you. I simply do not want to hear it. Mumbling is as disgraceful as complaining --- speak up or "swallow it".

  6. Game Day Dress
  7. The dress for game day will be decided upon by the team members and coach. This will serve as a constant reminder to ourselves and our fellow students that special things are going to happen today and we need to be preparing ourselves for it.

  8. Care of Equipment
  9. You are responsible for the equipment which is given to you. We have been able to have nice equipment because we have taken care of what we have. Your parents pay taxes to help finance our program and we have a responsibility to account for each dollar that is spent. If you lose it, you buy it.If you leave it out after practice or a game, you run to get it back.

  10. Curfew
  11. Getting the proper rest is a must if an athlete is to perform at peak level. Therefore, we expect our athletes to be in by 12:00 on Friday, 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, and 10:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Failure to comply will cost you. The night before a game we expect you in at 10:00 p.m.

  12. Academic Attitude

    1. The greatest responsibility you have as an athlete, to yourself first and then to our Volleyball Program, is that of achieving success in the classroom. Making the grade of "A-B-C" is not the ultimate goal but rather by the product of a desire to do all that you can with what you gave. It is the desire to learn, to know, and to accumulate knowledge so that in the long run you not only have enhanced your potential to live the "good life" but also gained the capability of sharing it with others.

    2. Your attitude in the classroom to teachers and students reflects on our Girl's Athletic Program. Any disrespect shown toward teachers will be disciplined!

  13. Team Travel

    1. Loud talking and/or laughing will not be tolerated on the bus. A proper mental attitude is necessary if we are to be ready for our opponent. Psyche yourself to win.

    2. If your presence becomes annoying, you won't be making any away matches with the team.

  14. Notes

Students/Athletes will be released to ride home after the game with their parents only if they have a signed note from their parents and it is given to the coach before they board the bus. All athletes are expected to ride home on the bus on nights of district matches.

  15. Schedule

The volleyball schedule is made in advance. This schedule is subject to change during the season.

  16. Team

Once a team member, you are an integral part of the team. You may play in every game, in every other game, in only one game, or maybe not at all. Every member of the team is important. If you sit the bench or play continuously, we all first play to WIN!!!
