Curriculum Goal & Objectives
for Yoakum I.S.D.
For curriculum quality control and sound curriculum management, there must be a planned relationship between the written, the taught, and the tested curricula.  Teachers must have a concise set of objectives which are truly aligned to the testing program and are followed in the classroom in order to increase student achievement.
Goal:
Teach and maintain a world class curriculum that equips each student to thrive in the new millennium.
Objectives:
1.  Design, develop, and implement a world class, developmentally appropriate curriculum and research based instructional delivery system.
2.  Provide all students with multiple choices in pursuing a personal, quality instructional program, which may include individual learning plans, dual enrollment in colleges and universities, and opportunities for involvement in the community, including service and mentoring.
3.  Provide professional development opportunities to ensure that teachers demonstrate mastery of content and model best practices in instructional methodology.
4.  Align curriculum with assessments to ensure continually improved student performance that results in students excelling on state, national, and international assessments.
5.  Develop early childhood initiatives that encourage community-wide support for learning.
6.  Develop and strengthen programs to ensure that all children reach school ready to learn.
7.  Provide instructional techniques that emphasize hands-on involvement of students.
8.  Improve the scientific and mathematical literacy of all students.
